New to the site.
I am new to the site and am glad to be here!! I just got a hold of a one owner 66 LWB. It came with a bed full of boxes with new parts, sheet metal, wire kits, carpet etc. This is not my first go around with an old Chevy I have a 1973 prostreet Nova, and other projects going.
Reason for my post is I was thinking of making the LWB to a SWB. Any one do this on this truck? I am sure I am not the only one who wants to or has done this. Difficulty level? Time? Any do's and dont's... any help will do. I have found several really cool looking LWB on line so I am just trying to figure out what I will do. Right now working on doing the rockers and cab corners!! Fun!! Thanks and any help is appreciated. Juan Last edited by jmedero; 08-11-2008 at 07:27 PM. Reason: add pictures |

Re: New to the site.
Welcome to the board from southern oregon.. If you want to amke it a short bed you can swap a shortie frame under it or you can cut the frame down.

Re: New to the site.
here is a good shot showing where THEKID54 cut down his long bed.
to be 100% correct you would have to shorten the wheel wells 3 inches ( I am not sure the exact length on the wheel wells) or so. And shorten or switch out the frame. |

to the board from Southern MN!! And yes, you can shorten it, but it is quite a bit of work, but it is well worth it.

Re: New to the site.
Welcome from Santa Fe, NM. If you ever watch the show "Trucks" on Spike, weekend mornings, they've shortened on longbed to a short... a few guys on here have done the same.
Post some pics of yours!

Re: New to the site.
I take it you have a PC and not a Mac computer. If you have a pc then go to your start button and under accessories you have a program called "Paint". Open that program and a picture you want to make smaller. When the picture is in paint, go to the Image button on your tool bar above and select stretch/skew and from there you can enter 50% in each box and see if that makes it small enough. If not try again but make the # smaller like 40%. After you find the one that works always use that. You might want to start at 40%.

Re: New to the site.
I couldn't find a My Truck link on your page.. Nevermind. It won't let me see pictures unless I sign in and I am not a member of that stuff. try making your pictures smaller and let us know how it goes.

Re: New to the site.
Welcome to the forum from Kansas City. If you are into the modification from a lwb to swb for the fun and challenge of it, go for it. If you just want your lwb to be a swb, you may want to find a donor swb truck to build.
In any case, welcome aboard and post some pictures when you get up to speed. |
