"Ignitor" coil issue
I just ordered my Pertronix Ignitor. Think I got a good price. Anyway, specs say I need a 40k volt coil for best results after the conversion. Does anyone know what a stock coil puts out on a '71? Should I go ahead and upgrade my coil?

I guess I found the answer to my own question without looking for it. I was on another web site looking at headers and came across an article about Ignitors. Said OEM ignition pulls ~25k volts, but just putting on the ignitor with OEM coil will swing 35k volts. Just have to see what happens I guess. Anything is better than points!

I've got a "stock" coil in my '57 and it works just fine with the Ignitor. Not sure if a stronger coil would make any difference in performance.

Ingnitor II
I have the newest version of Ingnitor systemII Including the Coil
for 95.00 plus shipping. The reason you need the coil Is because It's a low resistance coil .06 ohms the stock would eventally decrease the proformance of the system @ higher RPM as well as the life of the system........
