oil in air filter any ideas

ok first of all i just got this truck so i havent really put to much wrench time into it yet, i have oil in my air filter cant seem to find the pcv valve ( lol i know it sounds weird) that was my first guess. and below is a picture of something that looks jerry rigged doesnt seem right at all any ideas???
its a metal tube???

pcv is the culprit.. it should be there somewhere off the back of the carb.. change it out and also the breather is prlly all messed up

that metal tube is supposed to be there that is for blowby ther should be a little cotton looking filter in the air cleaner for that. the pcv should be on the othe side and have a line that runs to the carb.

Yes the breather and it's filter are necessary. That's a factory item and it has a purpose, even though it may look a little rough on your particular truck. There is a small filter over the opening in the air cleaner housing that keeps oil from blowing all over your air filter and if it's gone, that could be the problem. I believe you can actually buy replacement filters if it's missing or too gunked up.

If you decide to switch to an open element air cleaner, make sure you replace that tube with a push in style breather.
