Anyone going to Speedweek?

Is anyone making the trek to the salt for Speedweek? Member dirtball and myself are making the trip to Bonneville at the end of this week/beginning of next. We'll be taking my truck and hitting I-80 at Laramie. We plan on taking lots of pics so I'll make a thread after we get home. If you are there and you see my truck stop by, or if you see two dirtbags broken down on the side of the road, stop and say hi.

I've always wanted to go to Bonneville for this event. There's always some creative (& fast) stuff to see. Have fun & don't forget to swing by Sams for a bucket 'o sunscreen .

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.

Re: Anyone going to Speedweek?

I'm definitely interested. I just installed my new engine and I'm itching to break it in. I'm here in Utah, so let me know the days you will be there.

Definitely planning on lots of sunscreen! Irishpilot, we'll be there Monday and Tuesday, if you go keep an eye out for us.

Re: Anyone going to Speedweek?

Powell72 -

Take notes. I'm planning this trip next year and want some inside scoop on best place to set up camp and observe, closest facilities of any kind, admission price, etc.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Anyone going to Speedweek?

UUgggghhh! I had to cancel going this year. It sucks, especially since its the 60th Anniversary. My brother and some of his friends are riding their bikes down.

I was still considering going up till the last minute...shoot down by myself this weekend. Be there for tech on Sunday and opening race day Monday, and shoot back home Monday night and be home in time for work Wednesday.

Too many other things that have to be done this weekend.

Have fun. Speedweek is my favorite car guy thing to attend.

Watch for this guy, his truck gets faster every year...although I didnt see him there last year...so maybe a heck of a lot faster this year?

Re: Anyone going to Speedweek?

Dave, I'll definitely give you the low down when I get back.
I'm unsure of the whole 60th anniversary thing, Rod & Custom and Street Rodder are organizing two tours heading there, so I hope it's not a total circus. On the other hand, there might be more going on also.

Whole lotta rules and tech to pass before you can go out on the salt and "top out". And there is a speed limit on the part of the salt that isnt the race course. But there aren't any rules about going out there when an event isnt going on.
