Is this possible and what would be needed to complete this ? I see swaps for 2wd but what about 4x4? Any recommendations ?

It can be done, but it can get expensive. The input on the transfercase is diff. spline, to start with. @05 transfercases for th 400's are less common, making them more expensive. The th350 has a better first gear. If your looking at a trans swap a 700r4 would be a better choice, being you get overdrive, and the work involved would be comparable.
