C-notch doesnt work

Ok so I ordered a c-notch from CPP for my 1969 gmc w/leaf springs. I wanted to install a flip kit and needed the c-notch. However the guy at the suspension shop told me I ordered the wrong c-notch. He said it is suppose to sit flush with the frame and mine doesnt. Here are some pics of my c-notch if u can see it has a curve to it is that how it suppose to be. My frame is straight with no curves so how does it work.Need help

find a new shop. that's exactly what you need.

save yourself the cash and learn a little and do it yourself. they're really easy to do.

Re: C-notch doesnt work

just so you know, the way you have them sitting is backwards. the long plate goes forward, and the plate going up the side goes on the outside of the frame.

so in the pic on the right, the bottom one is the driver side, the top is the passenger side.

Is it possible the truck was converted from a 4wd to a 2wd? IIRC, 4wd frame rails were straight. 6X-72 2wd frames, both coil & leaf, have the 'crooked' frame rails.

Re: C-notch doesnt work

It apears to be a 4X4 rear frame section. Look to see if there is any evidence of frame splicing anywhere or suspension change in the front.

Re: C-notch doesnt work

That c-notch pictured looks like a Western Chassis. You can find WC related parts @ SportTruck Direct or just google the name & see where it takes you.

LIke others suggested, I would figure out what frame you have (using the VIN). It would make it easier to spend your money wisely.

Talking Re: C-notch doesnt work

I know what your going through, I have an old 69 on the back burner, and it has leafs, 2wd original and it has a straight frame. If you cant find a notch, just make one their not that hard to make.

Re: C-notch doesnt work

I have not seen a 2wd truck with leaf springs and a curved frame. I think if it is a leaf spring truck then it will be a straight frame just like the 4x4 trucks. The notch you have is definitely for a coil spring truck.

Long Roof,

My 69' GMC (2wd - 1/2 Ton) came with leaf springs and it has the "curved" frame. Last Fall, I swapped leafs for coils and made some "Chevy" changes. So there were definetly curved frames with leafs. Sorry about the dark pics, it's close to midnight (South Florida)
