Re: small changes under the hood

Your engine is starting to look better already. I like the look of the valve covers with the orange of the engine. I think I may go that way also, but I am going to run a stock looking air cleaner.

Most of the time I don't make a lot of progress on my '67, but the way I see it any progress is good.

The last time I worked on it was a few days ago and I ran a wiring harness for the tail-lights, replaced the head-light switch and got the head-lights working on hi and lo beam.

Re: small changes under the hood

I had to drill a hole in the vaulve covers for an oil fill, the old mainfold had a oil spout. I am going to paint the truck Deep Purple and trim it our it Bright yellow.

Re: small changes under the hood

I was wondering if you used the original valve covers or not. It was a good idea to cut a hole in them for putting in oil and plugging off the orginal one. It looks a lot better that way.

I have been talking to my son, the painter, about what color I want to paint my two projects, '71 long stepper and '67 short stepper.

I think we have decided that dark purple will look good on the '71 and maybe burgandy on the '67.

I had not thought about trim on the 71 yet, but I think yellow may be pretty striking.

Keep us posted on your progress, please.

Danny

Re: small changes under the hood

i am hoping to have the shop done by mid november, then its all over, complete tear down, already have a painter lined up. Cant wait to get this baby on the road again. Still working out some ideas on the interior, my son is into fiberglassing and wants to help me build a custom panel behind the seat, to add speakers and stuff, it will be blended into the cab.

Engine compartment looks much better! I will say that hearing purple and yellow remind me too much of my high school's colors. (Purple and gold but still..) You probably have a better plan than what I'm thinking of in my head, but I gotta say those two together make me cringe
