Astro Van Hydroboost
I've searched and read about the hydroboost setups. I was reading on another couple of sites and evidently the Astro van hydroboosts are popular swaps. Anybody got any info on using them vs. using the 1 ton units. From what I read, the 93 all wheel drive units are the ones to use. Anybody got any input? I really like the look of the smaller hydroboost units compared to a vacuum booster. As far as price, I can get a reman astro van one from OReily for $169 including the core so I thought of doing that instead of the boneyard.

From what I've been able to find out they are all basically the same. The differences being the mounting, and the size of the accumulator. I have used the 73-87 style on my Blazer and a 94 pu one on my pu. They bothe mounted almost directly, with having to modify only one hole. On the 94 one I turned the mounting plate 180 degrees.

so will you just tee into your current power steering pump for output or will you change that also?

I have seen them installed on several minis. That are really rather easy to install and are super cheap to find. We pulled them from the bone yards and never really had any issues. Ryan that I work with converted his unit to a astro hydro boost on his body drop. He had custom lines made tho that fit alot better. I'll see if I can get him on here to fill in all the tech info.
