Garage door opener question?

My garage door opener died. I am planning on replacing it with basically the same unit, again from Sears. My question is: the new openers all mention an anti-burglary feature that seems to indicate a rolling opening code. Can I disable this feature so I can still use my 4 existing opener remotes, that are the "learning" type or do I have to get new remotes? Thanks for the help!

I recently replaced my opener as you are going to do. Bought one from sears that was a close to the original as I could get. It came with two remotes, and an outside mounted wireless remote.

sometimes if you get the same brand as before you can get lucky and "program" them to roll with the new unit. I would say yours may not be the case if it is pretty old, sears usually has good deals with multipule remotes, but charge too much just to add "one" more. I've been watching them waiting for my opening to finally die

As stated it will depend on the age of your opener. If it's an older unit before the remotes could "learn" then probably not. Do you really want to disable a feature that allows bad guys to roll down your street and open your door at will?

I suggest you check out Sams Club. I bought a Lift Master there with two remotes and a wireless keypad for the same as what Sears wanted.

Thanks guys! It was only about two years old or so. I'm thinking the "learning" remotes will operate with the newer unit. I'll let you know this weekend.

I had to replace my Sears opener due to a lightning strike a few years ago. My old opener was a non-rolling code, learning type unit. The new one was a rolling code learning unit. None of my older remotes would work with the newer rolling codes.
