combining trucks....
contemplating what to do with a couple of project trucks....
won't be happening anytime soon, but still gathering ideas... picking up a 2wd LWB fleet (70 or 71), with good engine trans. some sheetmetal may be usable. Good title can also pick up a '68 non-running, rusty, rotting SWB 2wd. no idea how the frame is though..... no title. would prefer to revive the '68....

Re: combining trucks....
Depends on what you want, personally, i was in a similar situation recently. One truck was a wrecked (rolled) 72 short wide that ran before it was wrecked ($500), the other was a 72 long wide, no engine or trans ($400). Put all the parts together to make a 72 SWB fleetside. Ran and sorta drove, obviously needed paint, needed rockers and various small repairs, sold for $2500. Just depends on what you want.

Re: combining trucks....
Take parts and pieces off both of them and make one. Frame isn't a huge issue, as long can be cut down to short very easily. Depending on which front clip you like best, put it together. One title is really all you'll need if one of them is a parts truck.

Re: combining trucks....
Why worry about cutting down a frame? If you want a SWB truck, put everything on the SWB frame, if you want a LWB truck, vice versa. Which ever the case, keep the VIN plate for the truck that you have a title for and build it with that VIN & title. Tkae the best parts to make one, sell the rest to finance the build.

Re: combining trucks....
I was in a similar situation about 2 months ago.
We had a non-running '67 C-20 long stepper, a '69 swb frame, a lwb engineless '68 C-10, a running unknown year l6, a gasoline tank out of a '71 C-10 and a short stepper bed off of a '96. My son and I sat down and talked for a while and decided a '67 C-10 short stepper would be the best one to build from all the parts and pieces. What we ended up with is a '67 C-10short stepper with a 250 l6 engine and a granny 4 sped transmission. It still needs a lot of sheet-metal work, but it now is a driveable vehicle. Since it is one my son and I built together we will never sell it. Like said before it all depends on what result you want. Danny
