Need longer brake lines - help! - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

Well, I finally got around to cutting some stock lower arms so the airbags dont rub (and I sit a lot lower) but now my soft brake lines are too short. They reach, but they are tight and old...so I need new ones, but they need to be longer than stock.

I did some searching and someone mentioned that the 3/4 ton lines are longer but share the same ends. Can anyone verifty this for me? Obviously I am open to any other ideas as well. I am hoping to get everything finished up this weekend and back on the road monday so a custom stainless order isnt really in the cards.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated

I don't know about the length... but the calipers are the exact same P/N be it a C/10 or a C/20.... so the ends would be the same.

Now that is a fast response, thanks a ton.

I didnt mention in my original post, and should have, that the truck has front drum brakes....

and after looking at an old LMC catalog the part #'s for the C10 and C20 are the same, so its pretty easy to figure they are not any loner.

Any other off the shelf solutions?

go to a hose shop and have them custom made is about all i can think of

I think you may can use the ones from a K20 (4x4)

What about 4x4 lines they would be longer?

Change your steel line, and or relocate where the rubber and steel join to give you more slack

thanks for the suggestions, spending some time on Napa's online site trying different models to find one that will work. I wasnt aware they gave the length and end info, great resource...

I could relocate the tab at the chassis but the lines are old and coming apart, so I need new lines as well as longer lines.

Take a look at inline tube for some of their braided brake hose sets.

I am installing a set on another vehicle I own.

You can get the braided flex line in various lengths. Get the proper AN to inverted flare or AN to banjo fitting and you are good to go.

I came across a couple that are longer, but the one that I thought would be ideal (almost 3" longer) have 3" of metal fitting at the back of the brake backing plate....not sure that is going to work out very well

You can order them from Inline Tube.The guy is gruff when you mention other than stock needs.But,if you know what ends you need and what length they`ll make`em.I had some made after letting him know I knew exactly what I needed and would pay for them regardless.And,the hose(rear) worked perfect.

Hollywood, I got my Steel Braided Lines from a Company In California. They came out to around $30.00 each. I sent my rubber lines to assure having the correct ends. If you need them longer, just tell them. Here's the Companies website: http://www.bonacoinc.com/ Ask for Phillip. I was very happy with the final product. Here's a pic of the finished lines:

I run Crown lines on mine. I think the price was similar to those posted above.

Yea, just order the ones for a K20, that is what I did. They are about 4" longer iirc...

just got some lines for a 67' Chevy Biscayne and they are 3" longer, but the "fitting" at the backing plate end is about 3"....so have to see if they will work or not.

One of the few vehicles that Napa does not list is the K20, may have to make a phone call or two.
