brake part list?
would anyone be willing to make me a brake parts list for what i need to replace on my rear drums.on a 1964 swb.
1. drum 2. shoes 3. wheel cylinder 4. hoses 5. i get confused about all the spring stuff, self adjusters, all in one kits, hold downs..... thanks |

My wheel cyclinders came from Auto zone , do you have a NAPA near you as well?

If you need all that buy it, but I redid my brakes and just replaced the wheel cylinders, master cylinder, hoses, and shoes. I had the drums turned and I was able to reuse all my other hardware after cleaning it up. I got my parts at oreily.
My truck doesn't have holes in the backing plates to get to the adjuster star wheel on the front wheels. The original drums had knockouts in the drum. Good luck finding those nowadays.

Brakes are fun, relative to lots of other jobs. I found RockAuto.com has great prices on most all of the parts you'll need...at least a good reference point. "before" pictures from a digital camera always helps me during reassembly...which can be fustrating sometimes as springs offer modest resistence. Good time to flush the system of old brakefluid. I have one of these one-man brake bleeders; which has served me very well...there are a number of options in this department, and everyone has a personal favorite

Last time I bought brake parts they had a kit with all the needed parts. Springs, adjusters, everything you need. It made the brake job a lot easier. Usually the adjusters are rusted and not working right, the springs are aged and need replaced.
Did you get the drums off the rear? Also, before ordering any parts you need to be sure what rear end the p.o. used. Here's a recent post on decoding. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...52#post2832702
