What did you get done? Labor Day edition

I spent the weekend working on my yard getting things cleaned up for our company tomorrow. My wife's family is coming and they have a few little people. Worked on the pool some, then planned to relax.

My neighbor is out of town so my daughter is taking care of their kitten and dof while they are gone. Since my daughter had to go in to work early this morning, my wife and I went to check on the animals.

The dog is staying in a kennel and had no place to avoid the sun. My wife asked me to do something so I got creative and built a shelter from two pallets. I put a plywood floor on the bottom pallet, and built legs to raise the second pallet to create a roof.

He still hasn't quite figured it out yet, but he now has a 4x4 area that is well ventilated, but offers shade.

Beyond that I spent the day cleaning up daily drivers. What did you get done?

Re: What did you get done? Labor Day edition

Went to the junkyard and got power window regulators, picked up a good vent window channel, and a replacement horn button for my wifes old bumpside. All that was $25! Anyhow, spent a couple hours cussing and screamin at my truck while I tried to figure out how the crap to get the windows reattached to the regulator... Anywho, I now have power windows.

Gotta go do trig home work now and all day tomorrow... grass can wait. I hate yard work...

Right now the wifey is cooking potato and sausage soup for dinner,,, supposed to the same recipe the Olive garden uses.... we'll see....

Re: What did you get done? Labor Day edition

very nice pics classic87. Well we just rode in from a long week of cruising. On a cruise ship that is. My wife, 3 1/2 year old daughter, mother-in-law and I got on a cruise ship headed to Jamaica last Sunday. Our plans got rearranged when Hurricane Gustav threatened Jamaica on Wednesday so we went to Grand Cayman, Cozumel and Progreso. For the record, I am not a fan of Progreso. It was a long week but we had a good time.

Tomorrow I plan on getting out and washing all of the vehicles and do a little yard work before i go back to work on Tuesday.

Re: What did you get done? Labor Day edition

Picked up a 10 X 14 metal shed yesterday and began the build up. Dang box had more screws than the hardware isle at Lowes! Now my garage can be free from clutter and non-man stuff. I’ll probably cover the shed with vinyl siding to match the house and garage later.

After stressing with the shed all day yesterday, I took an 80 mile round trip cruise in the “Old Heap” this morning. Went and had a few cups of coffee and bench raced with an old friend, came home and back to work on the shed.

Went to Pensacola on Thursday. Drove back today just before storm hit.

Passed this cool GMC in Alabama... this thing was AWESOME!

Had to be a BBC and geared low... sounded freakin' wild.

Found a good deal on a 84 C20 sub so I ended up buying it.......will turn and burn it after I do a few things to it. Worked on getting the cab off the 68 frame so I can make a few "changes" to it before it goes on it's new frame... now I plan to relax....until it's time to get up in the morning....

Re: What did you get done? Labor Day edition

Found out this weekend what happens when you take something apart, shuffle it around a few times, then try to put it back together TWO YEARS later.

Yeah, its gonna be a while before I figure out how the windows go in. Too bad it isnt the truck you guys would have pics to help in no time. Anyone have a 67 Cougar or Mustang with the door panel off and a digital camera handy?

Worked all weekend on my truck, it's slowly comming together, drove it for the first time on Sunday (in the rain) ran great for having 8 month old gas in it, we haven't had a dry weekend since May so makes it hard to get things done.

Re: What did you get done? Labor Day edition

I pulled out and replaced both diffs in the new bush truck, gotta bleed the brakes and install the shackle flip tomorrow afternoon then it's time to hit the trails

As far as progress on the 80 goes, I'm down to installing the manual glow plug controller, hooking up the fuel pump to an ignition power source, and installing the brake booster before I can start it up. Still figuring out how I'll hook up the 88+ master cylinder for the NV4500's clutch yet. Once all the above has been finished, the truck will run and drive with it's new driveline. I've got a couple small things I can do to it yet, but soon it'll be time to put it away until I've saved up 8 - 9000 for bodywork.

Pulled the inline six out of the truck, found a crack in the block between the head bolt and the front cylinder. This is right where the head gasket blew out.
Washed down the engine compartment, try to pick up the 350 this week and get it on a stand.

Looks like it was "new wheels weekend" for some of you. I'll joing the club too. Its a 77, that has been tinkerd with by PO's, and needs some work. It does run good and I think I can make a decent truck out of it.

Looks like another reason to buy a "Dropmember". What are your plans Dino?

I just finished a nice extended cab s10,lowered it ,some i rocs and even did a engine swap(4cyl no big deal) perfect little ride,my kid is young and rear ended a lady doing 20 no one got hurt thank god.The impact got it right across the core suport. I could have fixed it ,but a buddy had this truck and i have lots of parts for these also so i traded it.I have all the suspension from my white truck .I am going to do a little clean up, interior and lower it .He is a great kid and he will help do the work and i love these fun quickie projects .I will save my next dropmember for my 66 big window.T have the frame already to be sandblasted , and then?
