Re: Hot Rod truck

the spare tire mounted on the side keeps the frame torque twist to a minimum allowing for quicker speeds through the traps......

Re: Hot Rod truck

Back in "the day", TWO spare mounts on pickups was the trick. With a stepside bed and a pair of spares (one on each side) it looked good. We called it "symmetry". Had to have two of whatever...spotlights; rear antennas; exhaust pipes, etc.

Need photos....

Re: Hot Rod truck

I saw it in the mag. Cannot find pics online, though. The mag says it belongs to a fellow named Rainey B. Horne from Chattanooga TN. It says it is a 72 Chevy SWB step, but if it is, it has a a 69 or 70 grille. it is whites with a big TN Volunteers "T" logo spare tire cover on the spare. The mag says the truck has a 434 SBC with NOS. Text says it "runs 10's", but does not give his exact ET. He went out in the first round to a Mustang (BOO!) that ran a 9.28 ET.

"the spare tire mounted on the side keeps the frame torque twist to a minimum allowing for quicker speeds through the traps......

I got a 3 year sub to it and Chevy Hi Po...and Truckin and Diesel Power and Motor/Truck Trend and 8-lug and Turbo Diesel Register and a few more... So I'm not sure if it was in Hotrod or not...

Check out the gold Gas cap, Handles and Emblems...."BLING"...I love that on the white body.
Not a big fan of side mounted spares though.

Re: Hot Rod truck

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.....

...If you want to be happy for the rest of your life, just make a pretty woman your wife, but from my personal point of view, get an ugly girl to marry you...

Who sang that, anyway?

If he likes it and it runs as well as it does WITH the spare, would taking the spare off of it knock off .05? Maybe the spare is filled with a weight-enhancing material, to make his opponents feel better about beating him.

Anyway, if you're a Tennessee fan, you gotta love it!
