Re: radio has a winning sound

move your power wire to another fuse.
you just getting bleed through(?),Probably from your alternator,it goes up and down kinda like an "audible tachometer".If you get a ticking noise thru your stereo more than likely you've got a loose plug wire grounding out and again it bleeds thru your power line.

Re: radio has a winning sound

Make sure you have realy good ground. You can also run your speaker wires through the plastic conduit stuff. Clean power supply is important too. It should run through a separate fuse from anything else. If that fails get a FM noise filter. It can be a real pain to eliminate the niose.
I had to run a 8 gauge ground wire to my dash straght off the neg batt cable and all my accessories to that ground. This is on my 97 GMC, I got rid of 99.9% of the noise through my sterio system. I still get a slight bump noise when I first touch the brake pedal. Havent figured that one out yet.

Re: radio has a winning sound

"alternator noise" if it wines up and down with the rpms could also be a bad ground. i own a stereo shop and come across this every once in a while. are you running just a deck and speakers or any amps or subs?

Re: radio has a winning sound

if your grounds are good and you have a designated power source and you still have problems there is also something called a noise filter or ground loop isolator. check w/ your local audio shop and they should have one.

Darn,I thought I was going to learn about a great radio to use with a "winning" sound.Or,read a comment about someone who just realized how good the original radios sound when you actually pull an AM station in clearly. As far as a whining sound goes,do you have resistor-type plug wires? How about plugs,do they have an "R" in the number?

I don't know if this is supposed to be a joke or not, but if it's not, I'd like to see a source for that too. If it is...

I felt the same way most of u guys did... I thought the OP had found a new kick ass radio! Anyway, gary67, most of these guys gave you solid info.

First thing to check is the ground. Make sure the ground wire is attached to clean metal. Then make sure your main power wire isn't being shared with anything else. The spark plug wires could also be a problem if they aren't shielded. Last resort is a ground loop isolator, but I consider that a band-aid.

Good luck, and if you do come across a 'winning' radio, please share

Oh I got the attempt at a joke, I was just confused b/c I didn't find it funny (hence why I asked for clarification!)

Hope you have a pleasant day too!

And Gary67, did you get it fixed?
