Np203
Hey everybody. I just bought a 78 blazer with a 203 transfercase in it. It has lockouts on it, so I automatically figured it had the part-time kit in it. Now that I have been driving it for a couple days I have come to find out two things: 1.With the lockouts free, it will only move in HI LOCK not in HI. 2. With the lockouts locked, it will work in both. So my figuring is that it only has lockouts and no part-time kit. If I am correct, isn't it hard on the front hubs to drive with them unlocked? Shouldn't I leave them locked in and the t-case in HI? Any advise is appreciated. Thanks
Kager

Re: Np203
It won't hurt the hubs, but you are not getting the benefit of what the "part-time" kit can do for you. You are still driving the internals of the transfer case.
I would pick up the kit and complete the job that someone started. It is really not that bad. It can be done in the driveway/garage in an hour or so. If your truck is hi enough to get under, you don't even need a jack. Some simple hand tools are all you need. From what I remember, the directions are very good, but if you run into trouble....there are several of us that can walk you through it. |

Re: Np203
Found this today while I was surf'n. They make it sound like running around in HI Loc will prematurely take out the T-case. Interesting read.
