Well, I picked up a couple of window crank motors at a local surplus store a couple of weeks ago. They were not marked as to what vehicle they were for, but they seemed to be very close to what the originals "felt" like (didn't want to go through the pain of removing the old until I had something to replace them with). Couldn't pass up the deal - $25 Canadian (approx $16 US) each.

Well, I removed the original motor in the passenger door this weekend, just to find that the new one wouldn't fit. I might have been able to make up an adapter bracket, but even so, the gears didn't mesh.

So much for my little experiment. Fortunately, the store has a good return policy, and I'll get my $50 back. Just cost me a few cuts on my hands/arms from the removal, but now I can say I know how to do it.

Oh well, experience is priceless, right?

I guess I've been lucky. So far, I've never had to remove/change a window motor. I dread the day I do need to. From what everyone says, it's a big PITA. Of course, what fun would it be working on our trucks if you didn't get a few cuts and bleed everywhere anyway.

Iv'e done it on my '87 and my S10 and i didn't find it to be that hard.

I done one on my fiancee '91 buick le sabre now that one was a PITA

Actually, the original is already back in place. Oiled everything up a little and it seems to work a bit quick. But, I'll still be keeping my eyes open for a good deal somewhere.

As for the PITA part - once I knew what I was doing, it really wasn't that bad. The regulator assembly actually comes out quite easily. Oh yah, you do need to bleed a little. Good thing we all bleed

Have you changed the window channels? I did on mine it was a major improvement after they settled in. Mine still has the original power motors.
