WTB: 68 350 turbo trans shift linkage
I'll just say this, it was a bad day with hurricane force winds, lost power, in the middle of engine r/r with only 12 hours before it had to be up and running for work....
Needless to say... the Braile method of engine instalation isn't for the faint of heart.... I Bent the crap out of my shift linkage and I'm not sure that I'm going to get it straightened out. Here is what I need, I need the rod that goes from the frame hole over to the transmission. Every thing else seems to be salvagable. Any body know what I'm talking about? This is not the later model like 70-72 this is early 68 stuff and it's just a rod with and eye for the down rod off the column linkage and it goes over to the trans. Thanks......... |

Check out the shift linkage made by Kugel Komponents. It is universal and works GREAT. You can adjust it and dial it in for perfect shifting. Runs about $50 It was VERY easy to install too.

I don't know if this will work But this is what is ON the truck. I hate unknown modifications. according to the picture "the Lever assembly" is what I have bent. OK the Picture I've found above shows it's linkage for 73-79 Turbo 350. Why the Heck it's on my 68 I don't know but opens up more posibilities for parts. This is the set up I have except for the spring o the end of my shift lever. Shifting into gear before was kinda like a educated guess any way. I have a 350 complete shift linkage that I am selling in my post. Take a look a see if it will work for you. I mount it to use but have decided to go with a differnent tranny. Check out no. 5. Louie.

I see that is what to me looks like 70-72 shift linkage. I'm so bad at this stuff. From what I've seen in other posts on the subject I'm not sure what all pieces I need to make that style linkage work. I know after looking yesterday that I actually still have the "u" shaped frame bracket mounted to my frame. But the piece that goes from that bracket to the frame is missing. Additionally, the trans in there now has the linkage pictured and I just need the "lever assy" Current set up seems pretty simple. I'm headed to a yard here in an hour or so to try and get things squared away. I'll let you know. Does anyone have an expanded view of the 70-72 linkage set up it looks like it's about all the same but I need the diagram to see how it's all supose to go together. Thanks for all your help to this point. ENG is in and should be running today if everything goes right. I hope. cross your fingers for me . |

Save yourself headaches, hassles, and gas. Get a Kugel komponents linkage setup, and you will never have a problem again. Your truck will shift like it is brand new and will have NO slop in it. You will also be able to dial in your shifts so that the shift indicator lines up perfectly. Factory linkage has too many pivot points and eventually it wears out.

You can always try Lokar. I put one on my 69 with a th400, looks like its going to work out great.

Ok followed your word, question, did you have to bend your rod to make it work? Just courious. It will be here Wednesday. Cheap and way worth it after hasseling with this dam thing for over a week. As a side note, motor is in and OMG I've created a monster...LOL It's the first one I've ever build from bare block up, it's a wee bit more radical than I expected. Thanks for the info... |

I did not have to bend the rod....you got the longer of the 2 offered, correct? I did not have to adjust it down too much. I put the shift arm on the splined shaft in the 9 o'clock position and adjusted it from there. The instructions are very easy to follow.
