Re: regear my 72
It kind of depends upon what you are looking to achieve. You say that you are towing daily, which would lean toward lower gears than you have now....but at what speed?
If you are looking for lower gears, yet still need to run highway speeds, you might be better served by switching to an over-drive of some sort. It really would help to know what you have now too. |

Re: regear my 72
Most people with 35's, a decent torque-y motor will run 4.10's with that... If you have an OD trans, you could go 4.56's.

Re: regear my 72
I tow a 4000 # boat and I have 4.09 gears with 35 in tires. I bought a gear vendors OD and it got my highway RPM's down to around 2000 at 65 MPH Also allows me to split gears when climbing hills

Quote:
Just over 3 driveshaft revolutions to 1 tire revolution = 3.08 gears About 3 3/4 revolutions = 3.73 gears Just over 4 revolutions = 4.10/4.11 gears Just over 4 1/2 revolutions = 4.56 gears etc.
