Re: K-20 returns
was the deer standing up with his back to a telephone pole? Last time I saw the "U" shaped bumper was after hitting a pole at about 45....

Re: K-20 returns
the deer just stood by and laughed as locked em up and lost control ending up sliding into a ravine head on into a dead tree. I am lucky the tree was dead. It simply snapped off and over the top of the truck and down onto the tailgate. The tow truck did most of the damage as you can tell that the tailpipe and mirror were drug FORWARD as the truck was winched out. 10 minutes of extra effort winching the tree off of the truck would have made all of the difference in the world. Of course I was on the way to ER in the ambulance and couldn't monitor the recovery.
I have heard some other bad things about the same tow outfit from others since my experience..................they have auctons all of the time on unclaimed vehicles...............I uess if I would have been worse off in the crash they could have got mine. I called them about 3 hours after the accident to arrange towing it home , after I was released from the hospital, and they wanted one day storage fee plus 500 dollars for the tow and another 125 to get it home to me. I complained about the storage and they dropped that. they had towed it in to town a total of about 4 miles. Something about before business hours and the State Police rates on their contract. Fotunately my insurance covered most of it except my tow to the house. They waste no time gettin it into their lot!

Re: K-20 returns
I know the State Troopers in Maryland have a racket with tow companies.Ain`t it great when our protectors that represent or government are in cahoots with thieves?Nothing like a little salt in your wounds. And,how can it be before business hours for a 24 hour towing company.I`d think it would be required to be 24 hour to get on the list.

Re: K-20 returns
i agree with special-k, if the tow company is regularly hired to tow away chrashed vehicles by the local or state police they are or are suposed to be a 24 hour/emergency service, which i would understad to be a 24 hour service when contracted by emergency services, and could be a reagular buisness hour company to the private contractor,
but it sounds like this company likes to get as much from people as possible, i totaled a car over the summer, it was hauled a little over 20 miles directly to my house right away, and it cost me 175, and they called me at the hospital to ask if i wanted a $175 bill and straight home, or a $250 pluse $50 a night after night one for storage at there facilities, so the way that tow service was described it doesnt sound like there are running there buissness were well

Re: K-20 returns
I asked the state cop if I could get it towed to my house initialy and he said no, it needs towed to the yard first so they are guranteed payment.
A local Sherrifs Deputy has a very nice 71 or 72 C-10 that I am sure he picked up through one of these tow imound auctions. Must be nice! The guy drives the patrol car home every night too! Our tax dollars at work. Anyway thanks for the good word from all of you. It has been a lot of hard work and has taken all of my spare time in the last 2 months to get this far. The hood needs some minor body work, it was part of the parts find for 100 dollars for the grille, bumper and hood and a door handle. The hood was a bolt on except I deleted the trim holes across the front and had to transplant one hinge nut plate from the old hood.

Re: K-20 returns
I just finished the bodywork on the hood, stripped off all of the old paint and welded shut holes to do the trim delete and straightened out a few minor dents and found a few even smaller ones once the black poly was sprayed on.... ( more to do later) ...............going to clean it up tommorow, pick up the shrapnel in the garage from the explosion that happened there from all of the resurection . I hope to have the hood on by next weekend and some new pictures. Maybe even get to drive it!!!!
