This discussion about hooking up dual batteries to have an auxilliary has me wondering if there's such a thing as a battery that's better or worse for that kind of use. I kind of thought that repeatedly draining a battery a lot and recharging it is one of the things that can shorten their lifespan.

use an optima deep cycle. probably a yellow top. thats what a lot of the guys i used to 4 wheel with used. they could run them dry with winches repeatedly and they kept recharging. kinda expensive tho. a lot of people in four wheel drive mags use them as well. they a guaranteed not to spill acid in any position as well!!!

(Well, you and the longhorn gang,that is).I'm going to get an Optima when it's time to get the beast back on the road. They sound like they'd be a great unit and I'm betting if 4wheelers trust them then it's not just hype. Probably going to put one in the Honda too if it'll fit. Too bad about the cost. Because of the no-leaks feature, this would probably be a pretty safe battery to have around too which is always a good thing.

i'm just always here. mornings off and wife's at work so she can't tell me i'm addicted to this site. crazy!?!?!?!!?! i'm going to put an optima in my ford this winter. battery in it is almost dead. the i6 needs too much juice to crank over and the battery in it is a cheapie dime store pos.

I liked the one I got at NAPA. Same type of battery. It worked great on my Scout with the snow plow. I think it was $109 when I got it.
