emissions

I removed the AIR system and removed the EGR valve and solenoid. Now im trying to clean up these dam vacuum hoses. I think i have it figured out except for one piece. I have a black plastic housing with a rubber diaphagm. Its almost looks like a pressure switch with two hoses coming out of it. Looks like the two hoses were cut many years ago. Its to the right of the Dist. and to the left of the booster. Any thoughts? Ive looked in books galore and found nothing.

Arrow Re: emissions

It sounds to me like the air injection valve that was mounted on a manifold and it ran behind the eng. and it taped into both exhaust manifolds and it was also connected to the air pump to inject air into the exhaust to help the emissions.

If thats not it then a pic could really help us identify this doohicky
