Stripped!!!
Well I started to work on my truck tonight for the first time since i went to japan I am starting to work on the brakes and etc, but the caliper bolt is stripped. As anyone had one of these stripped before and if so how did you get it out?

I assume that you mean the inside hex of the bolt and not the threads.
I have gotten them out by using a pair of vice grips after soaking the threads down with a good penetrant. Jim

Yea it was the hex, they were rounded out on the inside....I'll have to try some of that I tried the vice grips earlier and it didnt work out but i didnt spray any penetrator.

I have taken metric allen wrenches, and hammered them into place (one a tad larger than the standard size) and had good luck a time or two, but usually no luck.
Vise grips after that usually does the trick. |

Drill just under thread bore and peel it out if you can`t just put pressure on it and back it out.Try a c-clamp on the back.You may need to make a wood block with a hole to seat on the bolt to keep the clamp on since it will be cocked and turning will make it want to slip off,even if you did get it to stay when still.You may be hunting another backing plate if those threads are the culprit.

or drill out the inside and try using an easy out just like you would with a regular bolt.
