drum to disc front brake upgrade
I have a 70 4wd blaze with front drum brakes. i have been told that i can BOLT on all the parts that i would need from a 79 pickup front axle to to change it to a disc brake set up.
Is this true ? If so could I bolt on the master cylander and booster from the 79? |

I posed this same question on the 4x4 board and you may want to review the posts. We plan to upgrade by swapping out the whole axle from a 73-78 because there are some good improvements in the axle/seal/backing plates. The consensus seemed to be that swapping the front differential assembly out
was the most efficient way to go. By the time you swap out the knuckles and the other needed parts you will probably exceed the cost of a complete differential. Jim PS: Welcome to the board! |

I would use a 71-76 in order to keep the Dana 44 vs. the 10 bolt. The later knuckles are rumored to be stronger and use different calipers and backing plates if memory serves. Where are you at? I have a complete axle from a 72 Blazer needs R&R for $200 in central TX. Complete meaning sterring arm, calipers, original hubs R&P etc. Been sitting for 15 year thought so should be gone through.
