someone slash my new 38in swampers....anyway I can repair???

Someone slashed my new 38in supper swapmer radials... must of been a tiny ass pocket nife. its a really small slit in the sidewall....anyway to repair?? can I tube it??? Do they make tubes that big if so where can I get them...You cant patch it because of it being the sidewall I assume... I know who did it but the police said I have no way to prove it so I am going to be stuck with the bill if I got to get a new tire..

There are boot/plug combos. But,I think the sidewall isn`t repairable.I`d have to see where in the sidewall. It`s best to consult a tire expert.
This really sucks,though.

[QUOTE=Bnugg;2908594]You could try plugging it.Then beat the **** out of the guy that did it.[/QUOTE

I dont think it could be pluged... I am going to try and patch it I guess...

Nobody asked but I will tell the story.. I was at a party...two houses down...got into kinda of a confrintation with someone......seems he was drunk and decided that since he didnt know me he didnt like me....I called his bluff and made him look bad in front of alot of people.....he didnt like it and stormed off, I walk home 10 minutes later and my z71 and my 78 f100 are doing a gangster lean... his family members even told me that he is responsible but since nobody seen him do it.....the police dont give a ****..... But I am like minded with you guys..... I wont say anything on here but this........ you can find anyones address online......takes less then a minute.... I would know... I wasnt so mad about the f100 but I saved for along time to afford those swamper radials....they MIGHT have 3k on them.

Any chance of talking with the guy about it now?

Being out of the party surroundings, maybe you both could come to terms.

From the story told, you had a hand in it too.

Re: someone slash my new 38in swampers....anyway I can repair???

You need to find someone (tire shop that recapps tires) that can vulcanize the tires. I have had it done and it works. I think they actually melt the rubber into the cut. I had it done to one of my swampers that had ran over a broken coke bottle neck. Not sure about the spelling of vulcanize.

Oh and I could even find the spot back after they did it.

If you sued him in small claims, do you think any of his relatives would do the right thing and testify about him doing it?

Agreed:
I was just referring to now that both your tempers have cooled down is there any chance he'd come to reason and pay for the tire if you approached him about it.

ok.. but about the tires...

you can boot the sidewall. it won't be DOT legal... but nobody's going to check or care.

Nothing else is legal on the truck....hell the tint is 5%, no mufflers, just pipes to the rear bumper, no cats....etc..... This is South Carolina....people go there whole lives never even having a licence and have been driving since 10 lol.... I got it patched up yesterday....we will see how it holds up.....thanks everybody..

How many are slashed?

If at all possible, stick them in the rear of the truck. Swap one for the spare?

Re: someone slash my new 38in swampers....anyway I can repair???

The guy owes you a tire.Just a matter of fact.Skip the threatening and all the cussing and tell him to be a man and own up for his actions.Take him to small claims court and claim you saw him do it,if the relatives won`t show. It`s your word against his and he won`t be looking like the good guy.
What a PUNK!!!Had to go run and poke a tire because someone hurt his feelings.Sounds like he`s big on the outside and teeny on the inside. Why didn`t he kick your butt when you had the words if you think he might want to now?
I`ve had side lugs vulcanized.I think it`s limited to the outer skin where it`s all rubber(or whatever they call it).Throught the plies is another issue. There will be a pinching action that will eat a boot. It`s not a matter of being DOT legal as far as getting in trouble. It`s a matter of safety, period.

I had one of my Buckshots vulcanized (6 patches) . The shop told me they cant do sidewalls on radials. Only bias.
