Smile 69 GMC Big Block Camper special

Hello All,
I was hoping to get everyone's input here concerning a truck I was given over the Weekend.
It is a 69 GMC 8foot 6 inch bed, only has 36K original miles, NO Dents at all, however, the seat is tore, and the wooden bed is rotted. I thought it needed paint, but after rubbing out the fender and then waxing it, the original paint is still good. I got it from a friend at work, that inherited it from his grandfather, that originally purchased it in Long Beach Ca and was garaged kept for the first 25 Years of its existance.
Also, the mirrors are really big and Ugly, could these be changed fairly easily?
Is the truck worth keeping and trying to fix up, or not?
Thanks all,
Rick

I guess it depends on what you want it to become and how much your budget is. Sorry I couldn't be more help.

You should be able to change the mirrors. Cool that it has a straight body and is a big block. Sounds like a keeper.

If the bed is indeed as long as you say, it's a Longhorn truck. Yes it's worth keeping.

The GMC equivelant to the Longhorn is the CustonmCamper.Yes,the name is on other models, too. You gotta be a truck guy to like real mirrors and a big truck like that needs then to stay dent free,IMO.There`s alot of car-converts that just don`t get the mirror thing. But,unless it`s some little stylish 1/2t a truck belongs with real truck mirrors.Again,IMO,and other true truck lovers.I like them all.Big mirrors are ugly on cool little shortbeds.

I think some pics are mandatory - a low mile big block truck in good condition is of course a keeper!
