Is there a difference between 1972 2wd bumper brackets and 4X4 brackets. Is there a difference between years?

The fronts are different, but the rears are the same.

Lets see if I remember.. There are 4 different types of front bumper brackets... 67-70 2WD Chev or all 2WD GMC... 67-70 4X4. Chev or all 4X4GMC.. 71-72 2WD chev.. 71-72 4X4 Chev...
The rears are the same between 2WD and 4X4 long box. Then leaf spring 2WD short box and short box 4X4 and 69-71 Blazer are the same.. 72 Blazer uses only outer rears.. and Suburbans use only outer rears..

My answer was for the 72 only. I missed the second question. On your 72 you will need to use the front outer brackets from a 71 or 72 2 WD on the front. Rear outers from any year will work.
