Re: painting my gauge needles

Spray paint can get messy.

You can take a piece of paper and cut a slit in it from one edge. Slide it in/around the pivot shaft for your gauge needle. Overlap the paper a hair (so there is no crack to allow paint thru onto the gauge face) and secure it with some tape.

Paint the needle, when dry remove the paper.

Wheter you brush or spray, remember the needles are old and VERY fragile. IE you can break them easily by messing with them (ask me how I know )

Re: painting my gauge needles

first thing you need is a can (spray can) of KRYLON 3101 "red glowing orange flourescent", a few Qtips, some type of thick paper to slip around the needles to prevent splatter or dribblings, (slit the paper and wrap around until only the needles are exposed then spray some paint into the spray can lid and use a Qtip like a paint brush apply 2 coats about 20 mins apart then allow 2 hours for complete dry time.

Re: painting my gauge needles

here is some that i restored and painted teh needles

you need to use folroscent orange for them to look correct and the techinique that i used was the cut the slit in the paper trick and it worked out good cause i sold the gauges for 50 bucks or so
