Production Numbers

Does anyone have any solid information on production numbers?

I have a 69 C10 with the factory 396. I see a truck on ebay that the guy is claiming that 2.2% were made with the 396. He said the truck came with the document from the previous owner and he has no idea where the document or information was originated from.

kind of a threadjack but, why are people converting LWB's to SWB's? because they look better to some?

personally I like the LWB, but what does it take to convert a LWB to a SWB?

I am new here, trying to learn the ropes..

Sorry about that gentleman, I did not mean to start a thread and sneak in a ad, my real intent was to find production numbers, it just so happened in explaining my project I led into something I no longer needed.

I revised my thread.

So....... any production numbers I might find useful?

To answer the original question about the 2.2% trucks with 396...
I can't find that in any of my books, but I would say it is acurate... maybe a tad low.
HOWEVER... that means 2% of trucks that COULD have that engine came with it. That includes all the one ton cab/chassis, all the one ton step sides, one ton fleet sides, all the 3/4 ton step sides, fleet sides, longhorns, and the cab/shassis.... then all the 1/2 tons, long wheel base, step sides, then fleets, then the short steps, and short fleets. Lets not forget the 1/2 ton and 3/4 ton burbs, and the odd panel that may have had it installed...
there were millions of these trucks that were eligable to get the 396... so there were thousands of them installed.
E-bay sellers LOVE to make there average junk sound rare.
Looking at the auction... it does apear to be an original big block truck (and not junk like my blurb implied that it could have been)
If I were to try and push the rareity, I'd mention how it is a big block with out power steering or power brakes, and a manual 3 speed tranny. Heck, it's a step away from being a stripped down truck.

Thanks Longhorn. So..... My truck is not that rare, and if it were. So what, right?

If I were to pick something rare about mine, I would say the tag in the box is somewhat rare..... They noted a motor that was not available at that time.... A brain fart of sorts.

I don't think the trany is right though. My CHevy by the numbers state that all 396 were equipped with the TH400 and mine has the 350. The glove box tag shows M49 but the list on a google sight shows a 5 speed???

gintaras to answer your question about the bed. I just like the look of a stepside better than a long bed, sportier IMO. Also, the truck will fit better in my garage

The M49 only designates the turbo hydramatic... it does not specify between TH350, or TH400. Sometimes, they did designate the TH350 as the M38, like on car assembly lines, but the truck books show no such option. So your M49 woulda been the TH400, and it was probably swapped out later.
The 296 listing.... Thats pretty funny!
The cool thing about yours, it is a big block CST truck. When you start loading up the options... esp with the top of the line CST package with a big block.... they start getting pretty droolable.
If that was a short wheel base, then ppl would pay stupid money for it.
