might be buying a truck.

its a 2000 gmc sierra 4x4 extended cab, it has 123000 miles, 6 inch lift with 35/12.50/20 tires, custom stereo with 2 12 inch subs and ride rite air bags in the back. the truck is in great shape and is blue with dark window tints.
is 12,500 a good deal for this truck? is 123000 a lot of miles for a 2000?

i will try to get some pics.

Hard to say on the price, butfor this area that seems like a high price. Not sure what the prices run on your coast. I have an 02, 2WD and I love the truck.

Good luck with the buy.

Re: might be buying a truck.

Doesn't sound like a very good deal to me. Not saying it's a rip-off or anything like that, just not a deal.
When a person is selling something like that (lifted, big tires, stereo, etc) they have to find a specific buyer and that may be you? If not, that stuff is worthless in trade-in value and some dealers even downgrade the trade because of it; then THEY will need to find that specific buyer.

I have been seeing trucks like that and even newer for less than $10k. This is not one that has all the bells and whisltes that you mentioned though. If that is what you are looking for you might look into how much that stuff will cost you then find the best deal on a truck you want and see where your at.

I have been looking at '99 and newer 3/4 or 1-ton trucks to have one around the house as a hauler/dump runner general "truck" truck. The regular cabs can be had pretty cheap (high milers/stripper models) for less than $5k. On Autotrader I set my high price at ~$8k and there are quite a few including a handful of extended cabs and some 4x4's.

I would start there and see what's available.

Re: might be buying a truck.

Where I'm @ in Texas, it looks like its worth about 10-11k. Check NADA and Kelly Blue Book in your area. You might also check a local Auto Trader and see what similar trucks are listed at. I would also see who did the work on the truck, a professional? him? If it wasn't done correctly (ie alignment, electrical, etc) you might be looking a $12.5k PITA!!!! Here locally I have know of a 04 Silverado 2wd LS ext cab w/ 60k miles and a brand new set of Michelins, the truck is very clean and has been dealer maintained. They are thinking of asking $12,500. I think this is a good price for a excellent truck.

well he works for les schwab tires. so do i but just a different shop. and we do lots of lift kits, loweing kits alignments and lots of other front end work. so i know that thr lift kit was done right and with the same parts that i would use to lift one if i bought one that wasnt lifted.

Re: might be buying a truck.

Right now... 8-10K would be a more fair price for it.

My '00 Z71 is fairly well optioned and at 115K KBB only says it's worth $8,360 for private party value

Also: I bought an S-10 from a Chevrolet dealer back in July, Simpsonville Chevrolet. Out of curiousity I asked what they would give me on a trade for my Z71.... 5.5-6K

Re: might be buying a truck.

The price seems a little high, and I agree with 67ChevyRedneck, 8-10K seems like a better deal.

The seller is more than likely trying to get high money back on the lift/wheels/tires/stereo, which in fact don't help the perform any better, they're just add ons. The same truck without those options would probably run from 6-8K.

Just my $.02
