i've been playin with photoshop. this is my third ever photoshop edit, so don't make fun. so far i bagged it. removed the dumbo ear mirror (by far the hardest part). took of the air dam. it still needs some more cleaning up like where i had to remove the miror and draw in some of the interior. but i've already spent an hour on it. hope you don't mind me playing mike.

what do you guys think? i learning the program still so i'll get better.

Great job with the edit. Hard to tell what's real and what's not.

But....I actually like the truck better the way it is. OK, call me old fashoined, but I kinda still like the "truck" look.

the only reason i removed it is that i have it sitting so low, that if it were actualy on there it would be going into the cement. get it? it would make the pic look unrealistic. don't worry i'm not anti-airdam

scott. its not too hard, i still only know like three comands. what you do is use the lasso comand and lasso around the bottum body line of the truck and the whole top of the pic. then you just move the whole top of the pic down over the bottum part which the wheels are on. then i just go crazy with the airbrush to clean everthing up.

So, apparently this truck needs no gas, no marker lights, fender logo or hood ornament and you crawl in from underneath (no door handle/lock)......

well i also installed a fuel cell in the bed and put solinoids in the door to pop the locks open, but you just can't see them from this angle

Yeah Ryan, I "found" Autocad 2002. But you know what, I ain't got a damn clue on what to do with it, but I got it if I ever do. Talk about some strange stuff. I think for once I'm way, way, over my head on something.

When/if I ever get my truck painted, it will have the drip rails shaved, all emblems shaved, bed cover is leaving here because it's a piece of crap and I don't like bed covers the way I though I would, stake pocket holes filled, pockets inside bed will be gone, roof seam filled, and the dumbo mirrors will be replaced with the small ones Brandon so kindly sent me. (Thanks again Brandon) As you see, I've already removed the fenderwell trim.

Door handles will stay, as will gas tanks and tail lights. Still undecided about side marker lights. New bumper is in order just cause. I have new door hinges and bumper bolts waiting to go on. Have already installed new tailgate hardware.

And Dave, how do you shave the bumper bolts smooth?

And, no, it will not be bagged.

Mike, I dont know how they do it, I think they install a rod in place of the bolt..weld it to the bumper...grind/smooth it and rechrome... see it a lot on the 55-57' pu's

Mike, here is what you do to shave bumper bolts (I am doing it).

place original bumper bolts in bumper (like you were going to re-mount it), weld the bolt to the bumper from the inside of the bumper, grind off the bolt head, smooth it out with a little bondo.

Now when you go to re bolt the bumper back on everything will be there and lined up, just don't torque down too hard on the bumper bolt and break the weld.

Then, you will need to have the bumper rechromed, right? So, if I read this right, I may need to keep my old bumper and do this and have it chromed again. Hmmm.....now if I could find somewhere local that does rechroming I would have it made.

No, I'm not painting the bumper either, before you say this.

I have nothing against painted bumpers, but I want it chrome.

The front end is the only thing I want chrome/billet, besides the mirrors, on my truck (not talking about under the hood or interior though). I wish to hell I could find some headlight trims that were chrome. It sucks they only come in silver. I don't want them painted body color either. I need to check into finding some places who will chrome plastic. Are there any? My truck has the single headlights and they never came in chrome, unlike I think the dual headlight trims did.

It ticks me off when I know what I want and there is nowhere to find it at. Part of the fun of these trucks. The search/hunt is what makes it interesting I guess.

Mike I hear you 100% I have an '83 with single headlight and grey plastic headlight bezel. There are places that will chrome plastic, but it takes a special mixture to bond to the plastic and most chrome plasces only do a few batches a year. I plan to get mine done one day. There is a place here in Phoenix that does plastic chrome but I dont know their name. Someone sent me an email about them awhile back when I brought this up on CT.

Mike, yes, you read it right. As far as chroming stuff, there are places that do plastic...but they might be hard to come by cause the process is different than metal I think. Personally, having the HL trim silver vs. chrome is prolly pretty darn close...but as anal as you are (not a bad thing

) might as well do it the way you want cause you'll never be happy.

When I get to that point on my truck I am going to shave the rear bolts but the front bumper will be fiberglass (weight issue)...both will be painted a shiny aluminum color so they match (similar to chrome)...I don't thing chroming a 'glass bumper would be a good idea otherwise i would have front and back re-chromed.

your wish is my command. the smoothed bumper bolts thing really cleans it up, i like that alot. the drip rail was kinda hard to remove but it looks ok. i think i'm getting out of control with this
