The truck has been parked for 1 month. Today I installed a new spark plug wires and a new edelbrock chrome air cleaner. The truck started very well in the morning, but after 4 min. in idle the engine stopped, I tried to start the engine again but it never turned on, looks like the carb is flooded or something then I checked the wires position and everything is ok... maybe the new filter is affecting the hot starting? after 2 hours the engine started again without problems but turned off few minutes later help me guys!

Sounds like maybe your new breather is interfering with the choke mechanism

Or something electric is heating up and shutting the truck off.. does sound like a choke problem tho.. take the air cleaner off and see if it'll idle for a while then.

i had that happen before..it was the air cleaner hitting the choke keeping it closed....I just got a 1in spacer and fixed everything.

Yea maybe the choke is the problem I'm going to install the old air filter again.. to see what happens

A carb spacer? you have the edelbrock part??

not a carb spacer, an air cleaner spacer...get em at any good parts store..most are 2in but you can find a 1in.. or whatever size you may need.. try running it without the air cleaner and see if it still does it

Is it possible that you damaged the choke linkage when you did this?

If the timing is too far advanced it can cause that problem.

I didn't touch the choke.. the choke is ok, when I started the truck in the morning it works very good

Yes that could be the problem but the engine runs very well in idle

You say it sat for a month and it seems like the carb is flooding i,m wondering if the needle is stuck in the carb and it,s just filling up with gas and stalling then after it sits for awhile the gas has evaporated and it starts again.A sign that the needle is sticking is to shut it off when it,s warm and you will see what looks like smoke coming out of the carb for a bit

Yea that's my truck's symptoms, when the truck turns off and if you open the carb you can see like a gas smoke and the intake manifold is flooded with gas.. where´s the needle I have to remove the carb??
