Question WIW? 72 K5 Blazer

I don't know jack about Blazers, so I thought I would hop over here and ask you folks.

My Dad owns an excavating company and is getting ready to do some work for a guy. He has this Blazer and offered it to my Dad as partial payment, so I'm trying to figure out what to value it at.

I know this is hard to do without pics, but I told him I would see what you all thought:

* 1972 K5 Blazer, original California truck
* SBC (c.i.d. unknown), trans (auto/manual unknown) and transfer case all have 4000 miles on rebuild AND IS NOT CURRENTLY INSTALLED.
* A/C, complete and still sealed
* Fiberglass top in in good condition
* L/F fender needs replaced/repaired, body has minor rust (rockers, rear of front fenders

Thanks for any replies!

Re: WIW? 72 K5 Blazer

I'd guess in the $3,000 range based on the description, but a picture is worth 1,000 words, so if you can get photos, it would help.

Re: WIW? 72 K5 Blazer

I'll talk to Dad and see if he would take me to look at it this weekend, then I can take some pics then.

But the consensus seems to be around $3k.....

Thanks all!

Re: WIW? 72 K5 Blazer

Well, the description I got, and the eventual true condition, was just a liiiiitle skewed! But we still wound up with it at what I think was a pretty good deal. We are going to keep the engine, and will probably sell the rest or part it out.

Turned out to be a SB with a TH350. Not sure what the transfer case is yet, haven't looked to closely.

The top is in need of repair, but someone who can work with glass can probably make it right.

The doors look to be truck doors that were cut.

The floor/tub look to be in EXCELLENT condition, save for one dent in the middle of the floor. But otherwise it looks real good!

Typical rust behind the doors on the body.

Shade tree bondo job on the left rear corner.

The A/C was NOT sealed

Has a new lift kit on the front (3" or 4"?) consisting of new springs, steering knuckle, and knuckle to drag link connector (don't know what these are called on a 4x4, like a large tie rod). Rear has lift blocks.

Front axle looks fresh, smooth black paint. May have been gone through?

Re: WIW? 72 K5 Blazer

This is the only other one I have of the top. It's kind of dark.

BTW, he's thinking he might just sell everything (except for the motor) or part it out. He called me this morning. He found a 69 C-10 that used to belong to his uncle. His uncle bought it new, and Dad's best friend in high school bought it from his uncle a long time ago. He still has it, and called Dad because he knew we had a few of these, and he wants to sell it. Dad's going to go look at it. He sounds like a kid right now!

Hmm, that shot sucked. I'll see if I can lighten it up. If not, I'll take some more of the top and post them here.

Re: WIW? 72 K5 Blazer

I have a double walled top that can donate it's parts to make this work? It is the best single walled top I've seen for sale close enough to me (which is ZERO!) but it is in rough shape. How much do you think he'd want for the top? I don't need to go to CO for anything any time soon, but I could?? LMK

Re: WIW? 72 K5 Blazer

Yeah, there is one in better shape near me that runs for 500, so I definitely wouldn't pay more than that for it.
