where could i get one for somewhat cheap and around 300 hp?

local GM dealership would be cheapest on a GM crate engine. try summit or jegs also

got mine from jegs, the best deal going if ya ask me, im still wanting to build a nasty 383 with vortecs, 11.1's etc

yeah that was the one i was looking at is it a pretty mean motor? i have the edelbrock performer intake and edelbrock 600 cfm carb and HEI dist. to put on there if i get it

yeah ive been wanting a 383 also =)

The Gm performance has stepped up with a 383,They use a slightly longer stroke 3.80 instead of 3.75 to get the cubes.Just means you get another rebuild out of the block.I know SD carried it a while back.IIRC you can get complete or a short block.
