Cool Pic of my Spirit truck

Here is a pic of my Spirit of 76 truck shortly after I bought it. I replaced the left fender and put the chrome wheels on it. My friends dad bought this truck new and we had alot of good times in it when he got his license. I just happened to be there when he said something about selling it. I hope this works!!!!!!

No Ram!!!!!

Its a bulldog off a Mack truck installed by the original owner shortly after he bought the truck. The cab lights are not original. What you cant see is the red, white and blue seat, door panels with emblems and cargo light. The only thing left on the truck since that pic was taken is the left fender. I replaced the cab with a rust free western unit, used rust free doors, new GM hood, right fender, grille, headlight doors, door weatherstrip, window run channels and windsheild gasket. Aftermarket parts used were front bumper and wheel wells. I painted it back to blue and white. The original rusty bed was trashed when I found a bed off an 86. I plan on using the bed off my 75 parts truck, its in great shape and has the right gas tank hole. So basically the front of the truck is done, I just need to restore the bed and paint it. Oh and all the interior is not back in yet.

In process shot........

The "new" cab was painted while sitting on a dolly. It was then put on the frame. The door, hood and fenders were all painted off the truck as well. Its so much easier to reach and NO TAPE LINES!!!! Its PPG base/clear paint.

That is one sweet restoration you have going. I really need to get going on my four projects. I'm still putting my 84 front end back together, then I need to rebuild a couple diffs, change a heater core and install an interior before I can really get started on my project.

Did you totally strip the inside of that cab? How about the bottom? I have a new cab for my 86 and I'm debating how far I want to go with it.

The cab is from Az. It was just a shell. The paint was in good shape aside from the roof needed stripped but that wasnt bad. There is even some sort of sound deadener on the cab floor. I will have to get some shots of the truck as it sits now. The front looks great, then there is a big ugly brown bed on it. That will change soon!

restoration

as someone who is just starting out on a restoration i think its cool when you guys who are so far along into your restoration projects post pics of the progress you guys have made. "75 Stepside" has a greatweb page devoted to the restoration of his truck, and id like to see more of the other guys trucks while in the process. Bri have more pics or a web page of this? and any other guys have some?

Dang it was ugly........

I found the brown bed and door in the newspaper classifieds. I drove the truck like this for a few years. The door is no longer brown but the bed still is......

Yep, just paid for it, so I'll probably see it a week from Monday or so with Thanksgiving and all.
