Swb 396 score!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've had this truck in my sights for a while and finally snagged it today. It's rusty and not much to look at, but it's a 1969 CST (swb) with factory 396/TH400 and bucket seats. That's about it for options - no a/c or p/s and it has warning lights.

Looks like surface rust which is an easy fix. Looks like a solid score. Congrats.

I have to disagree with you.

For a 40 year old truck, that is a damn good score!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Swb 396 score!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks, guys. The cab has some pretty bad rust - firewall gutter is rotten and visor area inside is starting to rust through. I plan on keeping it and doing a cab swap. Here's two routes I'm considering : since it's such a rare truck, replacing non-a/c cab and fixing up as is OR installing a/c cab, p/s, and gauges. What do you think? Would changing over to a/c and other options hurt it's value? I also think this truck would look much more awesome in Hugger orange/white!!!!

Re: Swb 396 score!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You sure pull these nice ones up.
My first thought was go all original. And,I`d probably do that if I had it.I`d probably build the motor way up and keep it original looking.I`d make it a sleeper.
But,you already have all original trucks,a blue big block shortbed, and original parts. If I was you,I`d be tempted to build this as your ultimate CST/396 "as if" ordered from factory.

Re: Swb 396 score!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow... another nice score by JQ-72!

Tough call... like Special-K stated it would be great to keep a truck like that original, but you already own several original trucks.

I would make sure it runs good, drop it and cruise it!

Nice score, I like the fact that is doesn't have very many options, makes it stand out. Restore it.

Josh, you really fine some rare trucks down your way. I think I would go with Hugger Orange. I miss my HO 71 shortbed.

Nice score! Finding an original big block has always been a goal of my own. I agree with the others. Make it a resto-mod. Keep the stock feel but add whatever you think it "should" have.
