I'm just about done with my rebuild and purchased some headers for ECE. Now I'm tyring to get an idea on how to route the exhaust. My truck is lowered 4.5/6. I dont want to have any clearance problems with the pipes or mufflers. Does anyone have pics of their exhaust? I have a 72 SWB.

I'd really appreciate any help.

I"m running a mid length header instead of a full length so it won't hang low. Then I'm cutting 4" holes in the trailing arm crossmember and welding 2" pieces of 4" diameter 1/4" wall pipe into the holes. Going to Pass 3" dual exhaust through the holes. It has a 3.5" inside diameter so it has 1/4 clearance all around. Going to run 2 chamber flowmasters with turn downs after the rearend. I'll be modifying the crossmember this week and will take some pics. I did it once before with flat metal to support the crossmember where I cut the holes, but the pipe will be much stronger.

ECE now makes a coil crossmember with holes for exhaust,if you just want bolt-in.

There's a board member on here that has actually ran their exhaust on their 4/6 lowered truck back to the rear bumper, which is what I'm going to try and accomplish. I'm planning on running either huggers or 3/4 length headers to keep everything about the frame rails. I'm also going either modify the original crossmember as 67dragtruck stated, or I might opt for the ECE member like Special-K mentioned.

I found a pic of your truck, was the c-notch necessary? Or did it help with the travel of the rear suspension?

I'm going to the rear bumper and I'm running 4/6 drop, I built my own exhaust from mandrel bends.
I also did it with the bed and cab off the frame.

Here is how we did it on my 70 lwb..mufflers are outside the frame rails just ahead of the rears...4/5 1/2 ece drop..hooker full length headers..no problems

THese are some great ideas. I'll do more research and send pics of the outcome. Not sure yet as to what mufflers to use.

TO 72blckbuty: I "c" notched the frame for "piece of mind". I had another 72 that I dropped 4/6 and didnt notch it...it would hit the rubber bumpers after each little bump. With the extra 1-2 inch travel it does make a difference. Just have to watch out for the 3rd member hitting the bottom of the bed. Here's pic of the 72 without the notch...with that much space it still hit the rubber stoppers periodically.

I bought them through ECE, but they are manufactured by Sanderson....1&1/2 inch tubes. Here's a link to Sanderson.

Here's how I modified my crossmember. Just did it this evening. I know I could have used a shorter piece of tubing, but I thought it looked cool like this. It definitely made it stronger than the factory way with the deep v's in it. The problem I had with the CPP one is that they say the holes are 3x5 and I want to run dual 3" exhaust without the expensive oval tubing. This way gives me a 3.5" hole. It's close, but should work fine.

I like the idea of cutting stock cross member . Beings I stole a Plasma Cutter , well might as well had for $300 . The only thing is I have mine already powder coated . I guess I could just paint it , being I am having to spray some black anyway .
