New to it all...
Well. I guess the way to start out this is that I don't know very much about these pick ups, and I sure would like to. I'm 16 years old, I have an interest in cars and trucks but don't really have the opportunity to work on them outside of re-placing the transmission in mine and my dads (hah, two chevy auto trannys went out..) pick up. Mine is a 1979 K10
So, my first question to you guys is as follows: When I get on the gas, I hear a squeek. I'm not sure what causes it, but I'd like to have it fixed. My 2nd: I have a NP203 t-case, I would like to swap it out for a NP205, So that It's a little easier on the drive train while cruising the town streets. I have a Th350 transmission, would it (np205) bolt on and replace the 203? Would I have to change anything? The 2nd part of the question, would it be easier to somehow make the 203 a part time transfer case, by installing lock out hubs? Thanks for all your help. The squeak you hear is probably a belt. About the t-cases, are you planning on doing some hardcore wheeling or is it going to be a daily driver?

Nothing to hardcore, but I would like the better gas mileage and turning in tight parking lots would be easier to turn the wheel tight without worrying about the front drive shaft.

There is a few companies that make part time conversion kits. You have to go inside the transfer case, but it's very easy. After you install the kit you will have to run the T case in high loc for 2 wheel drive high, high for 4 wheel drive high, low for 4 wheel drive low and low loc for 4 wheel drive low. The front hubs is as simple as pulling the front drive flange out and replacing them with lock out hubs...
