can some one tell me what goes here?
Hello, i have a 1966 chevy truck that i am restoring and there is a hole about 3" across that is under my heater/air system and i have no idea what goes here of it is part of the heater unit, but on the heater unit there does not seem to be anything that would go there. Here is an attachment of the picture of that round Hole and if some one can tell me what went there, I would appreciate it.
thank you all in advance. |

depending on what side of the truck you are on(ie drivers side) then it looks like that's where a bulkhead connector was. i had to remove the majority of min cause they were too corroded or messed up

Re: can some one tell me what goes here?
Is it a factory A/C Truck? Looks like it would be something for that or one of the last owners when coo coo with a hole saw..

Re: can some one tell me what goes here?
If that is the passenger's side and the 3" across is a typo then my 64 has the same hole. On mine there is nothing in it and my truck is still all original with no A/C.

Re: can some one tell me what goes here?
The onlt thing I can think of is the A/C line set and drain, but there would have to be some kind of gasket or filler around the lines to the body. The only reason I suspect A/C is due to the location of the hole. I'll check around....

Ok thanks guy's and it is in the passenger side and it might be 3" I was just guesstamating, so maybe it originally had A/C and that might be what it's for, but no it only has the heater.

Re: can some one tell me what goes here?
I just tried to find anything in the LMC catalog, but nothing is detailed in there. Sorry!

Re: can some one tell me what goes here?
it also might be where the engine wiring harness came through or the heater/ac control harness. i would look at an lmc truck catalog and a vin decoder sight and cross reference your vin number. once you decode your vin you should be able to tell if it was a factory ac truck or not. i think that you can also take the vin to the local chevy dealership/repair parts department and they might be able to decode that vin for you

Here is picture of a factory A/C truck that I own. The hole for the A/C lines is oblong. I think that your truck had A/C ? The round hole may be the difference in which factory it was built at,or it may have had an under dash unit and used that hole for the lines.

Re: can some one tell me what goes here?
I have owned over 25 '64-'66 Chevy trucks and never seen a hole in this location that was factory on an A/C or non-A/C truck. This hole is in the general location of the refrigerant line-set for a factory A/C truck and may have been what it was used for.
