What to spend my money on??
Ok.. I think with in the next 2 weeks I'll have $4,000-$4,500. I need to put $2,000 of it away to pay my buddy that is helping me on my Camaro. So, lets say I have $2,000 to spend. What do I spend it on?
There really isn't much I can change on my motor set up other than maybe a different cam or something like a vacum pump. The thought of a glass tilt front end is there. I'm guessing with shipping it's be close to $1,500. I guess Lexan for the windows? I need to put at least a 6 point in the truck. I have gears to put in it, perhaps axles would be a wise choice? What are other places could I put the money?

Re: What to spend my money on??
If you're good in the motor department, start on another area. Do you have C-Clip Eliminators (assuming you're running a chevy rear end)? Longer wheel studs? You can never go wrong updating/installing things in the line of making your racing safer..... Or less likely to break stuff and cut your racing short...A good rollcage, seatbelts, fire extinguisher, helmet, etc are a MUST before all else.....

Re: What to spend my money on??
How about paint!!
LMAO, Oh come on, you know somebody was going to say it! Seriously,, I agree with Ratpwrd all the way,, safety items are always a good investiment. Beefing up axles / axle retention, if the driveshaft and yokes aren set up for 1350 u-joints, that can eat a big part of your budget right there with trans / rear yokes and a new CM shaft. Loosing a little weight off the front is always a good thing. Don't I remember you have, or were looking at tubular upper and lower control arms? If so dumping the stock steering column and gear box for a rack is about a 60 pound savings even after the light weight tubular control arms,, or just go strut and be done with it?? Yeah we can think of all sorts of cool ideas to spend that 2grand and have you searching for more can't we

Paint?? Awe man.. I like my multicolored POS looking truck
I'm thinking I should put it towards some safety stuff. So maybe the tilt then the 6 point. Since I need the gears installed, I might just pick up some 9" style ends and new axles and put a spool in it. All that would probably be right around the $2000-2,500 mark?

My original axle tags (metal plates on the axle ends the tech guys look at) were faded out, so I called Mark Williams. All I had to provide was my axle serial #'s and I had new tags in two days free of charge....Good people for sure.

Re: What to spend my money on??
I was looking around for a spool. It doesn't seem like there are many options for the truck 12 bolt.

Re: What to spend my money on??
Really, if you're going back with a 12 bolt, a car 12 bolt would work just fine. We're running a 71 or so model car 12 bolt that has been narrowed 4 inches total. Otherwise, the 9 inch ford is a popular axle.

Moser makes both a 30 and a 33 spline spool for the truck 12-bolt. I have one of their 30 spline spools and have no complaints with it. Bought one of the LPW braced covers for it, also.

Re: What to spend my money on??

Re: What to spend my money on??
I thought about a 9" but already have the gears and bearing kit sitting there.
Does the Moser one allow you to use the same replacement bearing kit as the factory posi? I guess I need to pull the axles out and measure them..

Re: What to spend my money on??
Yes, the Moser spool that I have uses the same bearings as the posi that it replaced. You will have to figure on a c-clip eliminator kit if you decide to go with a spool, though.

Re: What to spend my money on??
If I go spool, I was thinking about picking up 9" axle ends. When the rear gets put together, have them weld them on.

Re: What to spend my money on??
I did the moser 33 spline with c-clip eliminator and a full spool and a billet 1350 moser yoke. Moser told me that the yoke won't work on the truck rearend, but my rearend shop told me that it would. So i bought it anyway and it fits perfectly. I drive mine on the street and on the strip and have had no problems. I would like to go 9", but i was looking for easy and cheap for now, and i have had no complaints. Now i have to save up for a cage and a tank with rear sump to go under the bed.

Sorry to rain on the parade, but anytime I get a chunk of cash dropped on me, I save a big part of it.
