What did you get done? 10/12

I was on call this weekend so I didn't have any real plans. I did manage to get a lot of things done that I needed to do. I recently had the a/c go out in my 06 Silverado. I determined that it was burnt fan control resister and replaced it. It also burned the connector, so I pulled a pin and connector from the old resistor and patched the harness.

The rest of the day was spent working on little things in the garage and yard that needed my attention.

Today I started on my daughter personal website. I spent a few hours on that, until I had to get back out in the yard. Finally got the last bit of debris cleaned up from Ike.

What did you get done?

Re: What did you get done? 10/12

I got some more parts ordered. My dad went and got a Extang soft bed cover that i found on CL. Paid 80 for it and it is less then a year old with the factory protective tape on it. So I am pretty happy about that. Also My mini starter showed up at home along with some tools I ordered from harbor freight.

Can't wait to head home on Thursday and work on my truck, the Willys and tractors again.

I made a run down to Oklahoma City to pick up the "lot" of goods that I was asking about in my WIW thread. Stay tune

Re: What did you get done? 10/12

I had to work all day Sat so I left a little early on Friday & took the 74 w/my trailer out for a little workout. Today was spent working some plastic for the firewall on my 68 Beater.

Pic of the 74 & trailer working. Who says lowered trucks can't be used as trucks . . .....

Re: What did you get done? 10/12

Since I work retail this consists of me only working during the weekends, I didn't get much done. Though I did manage to find the upper shaft retaining ring I lost in my front yard with a sweeper magnet I "rented" from Lowes! hehehe. I will start to rebuild the steering column tomorrow!

Re: What did you get done? 10/12

Scoti , that is a nicetruck on the trailer . My favorite bodystyle even though I have never owned one . I would like to have that one . The only truck related thing I did this weekend was pick up the original steering wheel for my 77 BB truck . I intended to pick it up but never did. I am glad I called his saturday because it is a perfect 77 Silverado woodgrained steering wheel . He took it off in the first couple months and it has been in his closet the whole time .

It was for sale but isn't anymore . The new owner has already turned down more than one offer. Pics don't do this one justice; it's straighter than most of the trucks I've ever seen. I had one of these back in high-school as my first vehicle (paid for & maintained on my own).

I got my new tailgate band cleaned up, stripped of the old paint and clearcoated. Later I'll be painting the stripe black and the chevrolet script gold to match my silverado emblems.

Re: What did you get done? 10/12

This week I added Friday to my weekend. Drove up to Richmond for the NHRA Virginia Nationals, spent the day sniffing Nitro and other race fuels. Had great time and was witness to some of the fastest times in NHRA history.

I took one of the license plates from my “Heap” with me and had it signed by John Force. I figured since he often refers to his racecar as an “Old Heap” it would only be natural to get his autograph to go on mine. Sure enough, when he spotted my license plate from across his pit area he made a beeline right to me.

Spent most of Saturday and Sunday getting intimate with 5 yards of mulch. I had it delivered last week, looked like a mountain sitting on my driveway.

Re: What did you get done? 10/12

Nothing truck related for me, spent the weekend installing a new kitchen floor, and a new punched tin ceiling, painted the ceiling, installed all the moldings and managed to hit two Halloween parades. Won't even get to look at the truck this week either, got get the house cleaned up and ready for the parade party we through every year. At least I keep on receiving parts shipments, they are piling up and waiting.

Re: What did you get done? 10/12

I spent the weekend spraying on the Spar Polyurathane on my oak wood for my bed. I have been working on the wood for about 2 weeks now. I am ready to get this wood project completed!! LOL... You have to wait at least 4 hours between coats. I am up to 6 coats on all sides now and I am aiming for 10! I am hoping to get my truck back from paint this coming weekend!! I'll believe that when I see it. They have only had it the last 4 months. Grrrr....

In between spraying the wood I am helping a friend that picked up a beater '83 shorty beater to make into a work truck...it had a bad motor, tranny, suspension, no interior, you name it! lol...I wish he would have taken me to take a look at it first...Oh well...We have the front clip, motor (350), and turbo 350 pulled now. Then we pressure washed about an inch of grime off of everything inbetween the frame rails. It was really bad! Cleaned the firewall and painted it. Then he decided to do all the steering and bushings. So I missed football yesterday and showed him how to completely disassemble the front end. Now he gets to do the fun job of pressing out the bushings and refurbing his a-arms with the poly kit that he ordered! He is hoping to get that all done this week so that the new motor and tranny (new to him) can go in by the weekend! We will have to see!! He is like a kid in a candy store right now!

Re: What did you get done? 10/12

Worked on my C-30

Friday Night...... started to work out electrical gremilins, pulled whole dash apart and discovered that some really intelligent guy at GM drove the dash vent screw right through the main harness. How this truck made it this far without burning or the problem getting fixed after replacing 1 billion fuses is beyond me. Next gremilin is to find out why the windshield washer relay is triggered everytime the ignition is turned on. Any ideas ???

Sat... played golf in the Breast Cancer research scramble and got our asses kicked.. or we just didnt lie enough

Sunday.... got back after the dually again, bent and flared a new rear brake line bleed and ready to go. Worked on elctrical after that....... washer relay is still kicking my ass....

Re: What did you get done? 10/12

Picked up a 305 long block for $50 with roll around stand, the intent is to go in my drive-train-less 82. Got my thottle and trans cables (Ebay). Bought a set of shorty headers, got a line on a performer intake. Prepped the house for vinyl siding (step 1 - remove all the brick half high facing, and the large attached deck).

Re: What did you get done? 10/12

Cleaned up and sanded the the back of my new front bumper and repainted with zinc to better protect it then refitted it. Progress is still painfully slow but (I hope) should start moving along this week with the new side trim installed, 2nd new windshield installed and new lower ball joint installed, well thats the plan, we'll see.
