lowering 3/4 ton?
I have a '71 GMC 3/4 ton that I would like to lower without breaking the bank. It's a 350, 4spd, Dana 60 (8-lug of course). At the moment I'm more concerned about lowering the rear WITHOUT doing an axle over the leaf spring. I would like to do a 2/4 drop. The cheapest route I wanted to take was to get longer rear shackles but cannot find anyplace to get them. Does anybody know where I might be able to find 3/4 ton lowering parts (especially the shackle)? The front I was thinking a shorter coil spring. I'm trying to keep the 8 lug pattern to avoid having to change the rearend. Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Re: lowering 3/4 ton?
the front you can do with normal lowering springs... 1/2 ton and 3/4 ton springs are the same up front.
In the rear, shackles will only get you down an inch, maybe two. Your best bet may be to do an axle flip, and then raise it up a bit by flipping the shackle. (it's been a while since I looked at my leafs, not sure how do-able that is) About the only otherr rout out back is to have springs made or your old springs de-arched. |

Re: lowering 3/4 ton?
you could take out a couple leafs from your springs. I'm not sure about Chevy but i know in classic Dodges you can replace your leafs with 4x4 leafs and that'll lower your truck noticably.

Re: lowering 3/4 ton?
Find a shop that builds leaf springs, have them custom made to whatever heght you want- that's what i did!! Told them I wanted it 4" lower, but needed the sameweight rating. I dropped off one of my old springs so they could measure it. 4- days and $200 later I had a new set!!

Re: lowering 3/4 ton?
Thanks for the help guys, I think I might check into getting some new springs made. I didn't know it could be that cheap ($200)! I'll have to see how much they want around here. Still, nobody really knows of a web site for lowering parts for 3/4 tons? Thanks again.

Re: lowering 3/4 ton?
I got a set of these for my 3/4 ton. They drop it down approx. 1-2". The only problem now, is that the spring eye hits the bed. Gonna have to take them off and try another route. Hope this helps?
