Drive Shaft is UGLY

Ok, I've been taking my time stripping off all the rust on the back half of my truck. Took the bed off and removed all that is humanly possible in my garage the surface rust and whatever else was on everything below the frame.

Now I have the following left to pounder:
Brake lines, more than likely will replace with stainless
Outer axle ends when I pull the axles and brakes I'll spruce it up
Muffler when ever I address the exhaust
Ebrake cable lines. When ever I get to them
Drive shaft which is a 2 piece, which I'm guessing is because I have a Long Bed.

The drive shaft is a big rusty looking spike between my frame rails.

What did you guys do to yours? Did you just ignore it? Replace it? Or hit it with a wire wheel and remove all the loose stuff and paint it? I don't want to go crazy with it simply because I don't want to deal with having it balanced later, but figured I know I'm not the only one to look at it and thing its UGLY and Dirty.

Take it in to have it balanced. They come back nice and clean. They must clean it up as it's spinning, they sure turn out nice.

Hmm, I never thought of it that way. I'll make some calls tomorrow to see who balances driveshafts in my area.

You could do it, but just curious why you'd want to?

OP I just wire brushed mine. Worked great for daily driver duty.

Re: Drive Shaft is UGLY

You might loose some torque as a 2piece, but at the same time you gain a 2 piece drive so when my bed raises and lowers my pinion angle stays flatter.

With a 2 piece you lower the chances of blowing U-joints and having drive line vibrations.

Also I have a Long Box.
