Temp Drip Rail Filler?

PO had filled in the drip rail with something . . . Bondo?

After 5 years in the weather it was cracking. Never liked it and thought it would just hold water rather than channel it off.

Well . . . when waxing the cab last week I tore into the rain gutters. Popped out all the bondo junk and most of the original seam sealer. It wasn't bad at all under all that. No rusted through areas at all. Then I used one of the fiber type drill wheels to clean off the surface rust.

The plan was to use Eastwood rust converter on it, then coat it with Eastwood Rust encapsulator. I had neither on hand and had to leave for a few days, so I brushed on Rustoleum Heavy Rust primer (reddish brown thick stuff) and the next day sprayed on a top coat of Rustoleum White.

I consider all this a temporary repair to keep the rain gutter flowable until I do the Eastwood fix this winter in the garage, or next spring outside.

Question is . . . what can I use as an effective seam sealer now, that I can get out again when I get the materials for a permanent fix?

Any ideas out there?

I have used regular house type caulk
for temporary sealing and it works. I use the non silicone to avoid future paint problems.

3M makes some really nice self leveling caulking.

va_tlc - Will post pictures later. My avatar is a picture of my truck. White cab, turquoise truck, white bed floor. Not much goes on in Charlottesville with "vintage" vehicles. I bought the truck from a GE engineer in Salem, Va 5 years ago. There was a drive in there that had tons of old school metal on the weekends, but C'ville has nothing going on.

Hart_Rod - I will use a two part self leveling drip rail calk like the 3-M later, after I get the rust converter and encapsulator, but for now I need to fill the bottom of the drip rails to protect against the fall and possibly winter rain and snow until I can clean out the drip rails and do a lasting fix.

Hotrodxy - although it looks great, somehow I don't think your solution will help me with my particular situation . . .
