Looks like another project coming

Sorry no pics, not that you would be impressed with this beater anyway.

I had mentioned in my junkyard build thread that I knew a guy with a 2wd blazer for parts. I bugged him for over a year off and on and I think we finallly worked out a deal. I got a pretty good blazer tub from a member in AZ this summer, which I originally planned to use for the junkyard jimmy, but always kept in my mind that 2wd parts blazer. The current owner wanted it for the driveline. The engine went to a relative, and he wanted the front and rear suspension for the 5 lugs, the disk brakes and the posi rear. I found another set of 72 front end parts so he won't tear that apart, but I'll have to find an axle. The body is completely scrap. The top is kind of wrecked too, it had stuff piled on it and some homemade racks bolted through it. It's warped beyond repair I believe. dash is cut up, not just the radio. Has a rear seat, hatch might be repairable, windshield frame is junk, etc.

So for around $250 I'll get it minus the rear axle. The frame has some rust, but I think its all fixable. It's mostly around the rear crossmembers where the springs sit. I wont be getting it for another month or more. He's a farmer and busy with harvest and I have plenty on my plate now too. But even after I have it, it will be a long time before I really work with it. My truck is the current priority.

Just wish me luck please and when work happens, you all will be the second to know.

I found your previous Jimmy builds very interesting; so I will definately be eager to see another one of your projects. Speaking of; how is the jimmy project going? I see the last post was back in July.

Haven't touched it. When I finally worked out a deal for this 2wd, I was thinking right away of selling it. But there are too many parts I need that it could be the donar for. I got it running and driving. Brakes are aweful, the exhaust is not hooked up yet. It's driveable with those things fixed and the lights/wiring gone through. A few hundred bucks and a solid weekend of work would probably make it a driver.

I've been working on a new cab for my C-10, the welding might get done on that by months end. Then the serious work starts on my truck swapping body parts and getting it ready for paint in the spring. Once it's at that point I'll be figuring out what to do with the blazers. I'll have a parts donar 2wd, beater 4wd and a pretty good blazer tub to start with. I hate to part with any of it.

Well you don't really have a whole lot more than just time invested in your Jimmy build, I say keep 'em all!

It's not a money issue really. I don't have space. My C-10 is at my house, the blazer/jimmy stuff is at a friends farm, sitting outside. Now I'll be lining up another one out there and won't be working on them until next spring again.

The good news is that since you have so little tied up in the Jimmy $$ wise you could strip it of all its usable parts for the 2wd project. Then you could still sell the rolling shell for more $$ than you have in it. Good luck and will be eager to watch no matter what you decide to do.
