CPP Rant !!!
Im not usually one to bash a company, but here is my rant I ordered some 2-1/2" drop spindles from CPP, first off it took a while for them to get here (not the end of the world), but when I went to install them I found that my upper ball joints were sticking too far through the spindle, so the hole for the cotter pin is below the castle nut, which makes the castle nut useless & IMO not that safe So I went & purchased another pair of BJs just to make sure mine weren't duds, they had the same problem, so after 2 days of comparing 8 different BJs & several hours on the phone to CPP (many of which were being on hold), Taking pictures & sending to CPP, I get a call back & they said "Oh, well the engineers said that its just production variation, put a washer under the nut That is crap, we are talking Front Suspension here, I have spent 2 days & used up plenty of mine & my local parts stores time to find that my $250 dollar drop spindles are pieces of Sh!t First off on the web site they show pictures of them with their name not western on the spindle, not that this is the end of the world, but its kinda misleading IMO Sorry for the rant, but when I spend my money I expect to get a good quality product, I wasnt trying to buy some no name brand off eBay, I was buying from a company that seemed like a good company from all that I had read Rant off Last edited by Spray-Bomb; 10-16-2008 at 01:51 PM. |

I've had to do it before & it was never an issue. The nuts threads were fully engaged on the BJ shaft, the cotter-pin fits the notch in the castle nut, & the assembly was tightened enough that the tapered-shaft was firmly seated within the spindle (needed a pickle fork to separate the two pcs).

Re: CPP Rant !!!
I will add I was very happy with my Belltech S-10 Spindles, but have no idea how their 60-72, 73+ spindles are...
I'd ask for a full refund. Just eat the return shipping and call it lesson learned

Re: CPP Rant !!!
I just got off the phone with Randy at CPP & basically he said that after I shipped them back they would inspect them, to make sure that they are inferior & then send me back some of my money, but in all the 6 years he has worked there that he has never seen them reimburse someones shipping
I have decided not to hassle with them any further & keep the POSs But never buy from them again |

The washer in this case does not affect the quality or structural integrity of the suspension. Like I mentioned, I've had to use the washers on more than one application. I thought it was unusual the first time I experienced the issue . . ..... but I never had problems w/the fix.

Re: CPP Rant !!!
I will wind up adding the washers, its just that I dont like to "mickey mouse" things & to me that is what I will be doing by adding the washers

Re: CPP Rant !!!
ECE's dropped spindles are $249. I would send them back if I were you and then rub ECE's feet and tell them you love them!

But..... If the BJ shaft is seated into the spindles properly, adding washers would be no different than having a 'taller' castle-nut. If your castle nut was slightly taller, you would never have given the spindles a second thought. Your not compromising anything thats structural. It's no different than needing more shims than normal to align a lowered truck vs. what a stock height truck would require.

Re: CPP Rant !!!
i bought the cpp grand slam drop kit from them. the only problem i had was that the drivers caliper didnt fit because the pas was thicker than it shouold be. i called, sent them pics, wated 2 weeks for new ones to come that they told me they sent, i ended up just buying a new set of pads from my work. other than that no big problems with there parts.
but i still havent gotten the pads they said they sent.

Re: CPP Rant !!!
My ECE spindles required a washer too ... for what it's worth.
It happens more than you guys realize as different manufacturers of ball joints don't always put the drilled cross hole in the same spot ... seriously. It happens a LOT more currently due to all the "off shore" manufacturing of aftermarket replacement parts. |

Re: CPP Rant !!!
ive had many people use cpp spindles and never had a problem
their all the same mcgaughys are a bit different due to how they build things but other than that its all the same washers arent a big deal if you had to add 2 or more then it would be stupid but one makes no difference
