Grille Repair??
I have a nice size ding in the corner of my grill, and i was wondering how to repair it? Once its at least a bit better, how do i go about polishing it?

Get a set of body hammers and dollys. Harbor Freight Tools sells an inexpensive set.

Word of advice??? Get an old SS grille and practice. It takes alot of patience and skill to repair stainless correctly. It can be done, but just take your time and go slowly.

I have a cheap set of hammers and dollys, but to get them to contour to the shape of the grill in the corner is near impossible...

I have a 72 grill that i repaired ( took out some dents ) I started banging
from the inside with a small hammer then i tried heating it up with a torch to soften the aluminum and that seemed to help get the dent out. theres only so much u can do with aluminum, but its worth a try. good luck

look at it this way.
It's already messed up and needs replacing. If you look at it that way, then you can do no wrong! Try to fix it, and if you make it even more kerfaggled... well, it was messed up and needed replacing anyways! |

for areas like that i take scrap pieces of wood(usually oak) and i form them to a rough contour of the piece its alot easier to get the piece roughed into shepe/ i dont use a dolly but have a sand filled leather panel bag//aluminium is very soft so its really quite easy to wok to get a better looking piece
