Before I buy a repop...I thought I would look for an NOS one for my 70cst project.

Thanks...I saw that FS thread and that's what reminded me that I also need one. There are two or possibly three buyers ahead of me so I thought I would start another thread and try to locate one. Another point...NOS is differrent than OEM. I can buy an OEM which is a repop unless I have my definitions wrong?

NOS is New Old Stock. OEM is Original Equipment Manufacture. NOS is unused (new) OEM. Re-pop is usually junk made in China, although I am not sure about the grilles.

To get a little more technical, the inner grill in the thread that is for sale is a 69 only. The 70 inner grill has horizontal bars across the inner grill, where as the 69 has the silver squares all over.
Not to say it will not fit and look great, but is not totally factory correct for a 70.

Good point. Thanks Byrd. I have noticed the term "69 Grille but will work for 70" stated in some catalogs. As I buy the few remaining parts that I need for my truck I now I understand why it is hard to keep within budget when getting a truck restored.

I believe that is a 69 Grille which is different from a 70 Grille. If I am wrong someone can correct me. Thanks for the info.

Thanks for the info...This looks to be a repop...it says 69-70 which leads me to believe its the repop I have a lead on a NOS grille.

I am still in search of a NOS Grille. I have a lead on one but as of this very second...no grille. With time I will find one.
BTW.....I have emailed about 15 different Vendors looking for one.

I called Paddock to check and these are OEM grilles (on backorder but they expect to have back in stock) not repop. I discovered some other web merchants selling NOS parts that I was not aware of before but they list everything by GM part #. Lots of good stuff if you know part # you are looking for! Do you have part # for 1970 grille? I discovered #3985056 is correct for 1969. Let me know if you want site addresses for NOS vendors I found. I sure could use one of those part # books I have seen pop up for sale that get snapped up immediately!

Good luck on this one. I have seen some nice originals pop up here and on ebay from time to time. I don't think GM ever stocked the correct inner grille for 1970. They may have for a short time, but they determined that they were so similar that they only stocked the 69 grille and sold them as 69 and 70s.

Ok...I think I have located a source that has 80 of the NOS 70 Grilles avaliable? Yes...I was told 80 are still in stock. Time will tell and I will update you all. Price is $250 plus the ride. Later

I am posting this as the reason why we need to be educated about our trucks. The above is a reply from a 67-72 vendor...It was apparent that even this supplier is unaware of the difference between the 69-70 Inner Grilles. Again this is not to bash...this is to give the reason why "we" need to know what is right about our trucks. Very few can have absolute knowledge about our trucks and the differrences. I did refer this person to the above link. JFYI

The info I have come across says that they are the same, except the horizontal bars are painted differently...I have a hard time getting info sometimes as well, such as the case with shoulder belt retainers. TTT for you, and good luck!!

I have finally found an NOS 70 Grille Insert. What I find interesting is I contacted various Vendors and they said..."sure we can get a 70 inner grilles". But when I questioned them to verify that it was indeed a 70 Grille no one got back to me saying they indeed have a 70 inner grille. I believe that most all NOS Grilles that the Vendors can get are the 69 Grille which fit the 70 model but is not correct. The Grilles they can get are 69 model year but the 70 inner grilles are harder than hens teeth to find. Now you know the rest of the story!
