WIW 1971 Suburban
Hey guys. I’m looking at this suburban.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Chevr...QQcmdZViewItem It’s on a car lot near me and I’m thinking about it. The ebay price is way out of line IMHO. What do you think is fair price? I noted the following details on my test drive; All new exterior trim Factory colors on repaint Door ding in pass door and trim Paint cracking/bubbling on hood – old paint job? Many chips on the paint - sides and front Paint looks great otherwise Motor appears fresh but choke didn’t work on start-up – adjustment? Didn’t seem to have much power – could be long legged gears, more carb adjustment, or used to driving my blazer with 3.73’s Zero rust – solid floors Welding is a little botched rocker panel replacement Pass rear side window not tinted Rear hatch glass rubber maybe installed incorrectly with gap at bottom – missing chrome there also? No suspension restoration apparent Exhaust is tucked under nice and workmanship is good but loud. Tilt & tach added Thanks for your opinions.

Re: WIW 1971 Suburban
Keep an eye on that dealership. They aren't always honest and usually overpriced. I'm sure the car is a consignment deal, so see if you can cut out the dealership in anyway and get the real info on the vehicle. Knowing about them, I was suspecting more in the $20,000 range before seeing the price. You might be able to talk them down, but I'm sure they have a bottom line price if it's a consignment.
It's not listed on their website, which is odd too. http://www.kompactkarkorner.com/

Re: WIW 1971 Suburban
Thanks Bouncy. My eyes are wide open. Generally I think these guys are double on their prices.
I haven't found many comparables above $4k so I thought I'd try to get a ballpark from the board. Also, hoping a boardmember will recognise it and be able to give me details.

Re: WIW 1971 Suburban
I like seeing the prices rising on Burbs because I have one, but this one is way overpriced imo. Its well more than double what I payed for mine which was completely mechanically restored (with receipts) all new front suspension, brakes, etc. Mine needs minor bodywork and paint, but it is completely rustfree (California) and has front and rear a/c. Make him a reasonable offer or keep looking.

Re: WIW 1971 Suburban
C'mon... What do you think? Would $10k be fair? Too much? $8k about right? Maybe I should save my money...

Re: WIW 1971 Suburban
I do not know what that one is worth. If it has paint chips all over and shoddy rocker replacement that is too much money IMO,........ for the 8 or 10k you are talking about you can probably take your pick of some nice ones that are just about perfect.
And now that you know what you want and have money, you are in a good spot. |

Re: WIW 1971 Suburban
Its a beautiful burb, but a bit pricey to me. Member Grendal is selling a really nice burb, at a far better price.
