Exhaust ideas

I need to do the exhaust on my truck, does anyone know where I can get the pipe and if I can get pre-bent sections, like "S" bends, "U" shaped bends etc?

What is the typical price range if I have it done? I'm coming from the headers under the truck and it will exit about 1 foot behind the cab, between the rear wheel well and the front of the bed.

Re: Exhaust ideas

My exhaust set me back $425.00 and it was from my headers all the way to the back of the truck right under the bumper.
All the piping, dynomax mufflers stainless installed.

Re: Exhaust ideas

exhaust prices vary tremendously by reigon. No tellin why... but they do. The best i could find here in town was 100 bucks to join the manifolds to an existing daul exhaust system.
Yeah, ouch

Re: Exhaust ideas

WOW, I think I might be better off finding the pipe and doing it myself. Any ideas where I can get the pipe?

Re: Exhaust ideas

I'll try to take some pictures of mine tomorrow. I came off headers, through the support where the drive shaft goes through and dumped right in front of the axle.

Re: Exhaust ideas

Jegs, Summit or look in some on the trade magazines, like Classic Truck, will guide you to pre bent exhaust pipe. All of them have systems where you cut to fit. Patience is the key once you find the pipe your want. Keep fitting until it's where you want it to be or you'll be unhappy later with the results. Good Luck.

Re: Exhaust ideas

If you dump infront of the rearend it saves $ with all the bending.

Re: Exhaust ideas

If you can weld and want to do it yourself, there is an ebay store (I think) that sells mix up bends, that are all mandrel bent, for really cheap. The problem is that you don't know what you get. It's still way cheaper. I've never tried them though, so beware.

Re: Exhaust ideas

i do exhaust for a living and if you dont know what you are doing pay the money and have it done right. here in washington state a dual job with flowmaster mufflers will run ya about 400 bucks. there is a lot more involved than just putting some pipes and muffs on your rig. theres nothing worse than a rattle or a broken hanger or pipes hanging down. that stuff drives me nuts!

Re: Exhaust ideas

I got my exhaust coming out in front of the rear wheels. I already had the mufflers, cost me 2 bills to have it done at a shop.

Re: Exhaust ideas

i would say the biggest price difference would be if you wanted the exhaust run cleanly through the frame or hangin down like a farm truck. id pay someone to go through frame but if i didnt mind the exhaust hangin down i would do it myself.
the guy that bent my exhaust has several of our trucks and has the exhaust throught the frame on all of them, it still took him 6 hours to get the bends right!

That's a good point man, I think I'll take your advice. I am the same way with hanging mufflers and rattles. My truck is pretty low too so I will need the exhaust tucked up underneath pretty good.
